By What Authority?

Everything Jesus is doing in Mark chapter 11 is part of a larger story unfolding. The people were displaying their confidence that Jesus could save them. They thought that He came to destroy their enemies on earth, they did not know Jesus came to save them from their sins. God has opened the door for Gentiles and Jews. Jesus showed us, love, as no one else had, and sometimes love is tough. The reason that Jesus could do supernatural things is that He was under the perfect authority of the Father. Jesus only did what the Father told Him to do and just said what the Father told Him to say. We can speak in confidence if what we speak is by God's will. The religious leaders did not want to know the truth; they wanted to complain about what Jesus was doing. We must die to ourselves daily; we must take up our cross and follow Him.
