The Character of Godliness Part 14

The Character Of Godliness, as, James Orr (1844–1913), asserted: "…is a denoting character and
conduct determined by the principle of love of fear in the heart, is a summing up of genuine
religion. There can be no true religion without it…only a dead form…" (The International
Standard Bible Encyclopedia:1915 J.Orr, Ed). With the above submission, two (2) concerns of
note: a) The idea of Irreverent godliness that holds to a form of godliness, yet it denies the
substance of it b) The Reverent Godliness, which by nature is a communicable attribute of God,
as an imperative element to be had. Godliness is the consequence of salvation, an assimilation of
mind and heart unto God and His Word. Thus, ultimately, godliness, not only affirms of our
justification by faith in Christ alone, or a portrayal of a transformed humanity by His sanctifying
grace; but also, as godliness is, but of all grace, it confirms our union with Christ, for all eternity.
