The Gift of Giving

We have this idea in Christianity that God blesses those who are living godly lives. While there is talk in the Bible of 'sowing and reaping,' we need to get a proper perspective on giving. What are the characteristics of a giver? How does God respond to that giver? And why should we be people who give?
