The Wisdom of God and the Spirit - Part Two

Recognizing that the factions at Corinth were merely a symptom of a more fundamental underlying problem, Paul sought to expose that problem and the mindset and attitudes it engendered among the Corinthian believers. The problem resided in the Corinthians' minds, not their behavior as such; specifically, they were giving sway to the mind of the "old man" and allowing natural (worldly) wisdom to direct their thinking, attitudes and behavior toward one another. In the present verses he brings his argumentation to a head in order to begin applying it directly to the Corinthians and their particular issues. One cannot cure the disease until he makes the right diagnosis; treating symptoms will never suffice.
