The Yoke of Christ

We will be looking at how we can exchange our heavy yokes for His liberating yoke. We will see that apart from sharing His yoke of obedience to the Father's commands we can never find rest for our souls.
In the end it is love of God that bears all things and makes light that which could otherwise seem a burden. It is the gospel that yokes us together with Christ so that we know His joy in His Father's command. In the cross Christ exchanged our heavy burden for His light burden. We could only take His yoke and learn from Him because He yoked Himself to us (an unequal yoking without a doubt!). Being yoked together with Christ means we were united to Christ and become one spirit with Him. We cannot be yoked together with Christ without being transformed by His love for the Father and His delight in the Father's commands - the way of true rest and renewal.
