There is place for mystery in theology, such as when a believer contemplaces the vast realities of God that are hopelessly beyond the fallen human mind. Mystery here is healthy and respectful because it prevents believers from speaking reductionistically about God. Here mystery is at home.

Mystery is not at home however, in places where God had given us clarity. Sadly, many Christians today are walking around thinking that there are huge mysteries about the spiritual world that they must figure out in order to be successful Christians. They are led to believe they must know how to engage in spiritual battle in a way that is mysterious even to the Bible!

Here I have taken the position of Isaiah (8:19-20) where he calls the people back to the law and the testimony. God has spoken, let us read His words and find out what He has said rather than concocting theories about how best to detect and bind/loose demons.

This sermon urges the hearer to gain a good grasp of the belt of truth and buckle it around their waist. People who are so armed are not easily wafted on a new current of absurd teaching. This sermon makes suggestions on how you can begin to buckle the belt of truth around your waist. It also gives some common examples of people who have no belt.
