The 'five points' scheme of Calvinism orignated as an answer to five articles of protest brought by the followers of James Arminius in the early 1600's in the Netherlands. The Synod of Dort convened to settle the dispute and issued 93 canons in which the sovereignty of God in salvation was strongly maintained. This message is an introduction to a series on the five points.
