The Essence of New Covenant Worship

We find ourselves again this morning in the sermon series The Worship That Pleases God, and we will conclude with the section indicated above. Having looked at the essence of Old Covenant worship, we want to now focus our attention upon the essence of New Covenant worship. In this sermon I will develop what Jesus reveals to be the true nature of the worship that pleases God in this era of redemptive history. This is an absolute axiom, for there can be no acceptable worship apart from this principle, regardless of sincerity, or form, or intensity, or feelings. All that was anticipated in the Old Covenant is now realized “in Christ” in the New Covenant. Therefore, we must understand what Jesus meant by His infallible assertion about worship. I am hopeful that the Lord will be pleased to grant us a great measure of spiritual discernment and heavenly wisdom from these sermons.
