Loneliness

This sermon is the first in a series entitled 'Problems People Face And Their Solution.'

When we see the title 'loneliness,' we may be inclined to think 'oh that doesn`t apply to me' - but here are a couple of things to consider.

Circumstances change. You may not be lonely now, but things can come into people`s lives that change things around completely. Look at what happened the prophet Elijah (in our reading).

It would be good for us to learn about this problem just in case we may face it in the future.

Also, by taking heed to the lessons to be learned on this subject, we may be able to understand a little more those who ARE lonely, and may be able to help them in some way.

Rev Elliot looks at this subject of loneliness under two main headings:

  1. The EXPERIENCE of it

  2. The DELIVERANCE from it

"Lonely days and lonely nights filled with despair,
Caused me to long for someone to care.
Then I heard Christ say to me
That this promise He gave -
Lo I am with you now and forever,
Be not afraid.

CHORUS
I'll never be lonely again, never again,
For I have opened my heart`s door to Him.
So I'll brush away the tears,
And forget those foolish fears,
I'll never be lonely again, never again.

If you`re longing for a friend, loving and true -
Turn to the Saviour, He waits for you.
He will do the same for you as He did for me,
He'll never leave you, never forsake you,
Trust Him and see !"
