17 - Purpose-Driven Deception

Scripture tells us that Satan does everything he can to distract Christians and churches from their Christ-ordained purpose. He often employs clever devices to keep us busy doing lots of "good" things -- instead of the two things Jesus commanded.

Satan wants believers to forget that we are in a spiritual battle against the forces of this world-system as long as we are in this world. He does everything he can to try to make Christians and churches comfortable in this present world. He does everything he can to try to get Christians and churches to make peace with this world, to make alliances with this fallen world.

Satan does these things through enticing deceptions. One of the most damaging of them in our time is the Purpose-Driven Church movement. What is the Purpose-Driven deception? That's our focus today as we continue our series, Christ Above All: Studies in Colossians.
