True Christian love has its being from God's love which is not dependent on love in or from man - it transcends all natural affection amongst men.
The sacrificial nature of Christian love v14,15.

Paul's self-defence was by no means a resentful retort but a loving necessity.
We must all seek to be engaged in loving and caring for the church of God on earth. 'For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.' Psalm 122:8
