The gospel in Romans 1:16 is said to be the "dunamis" (power) of God unto salvation. Because of man's bondage to sin and Satan, it takes the very power of God to save men. Emphasis is placed on the ministry of intercessory prayer in men's conversions. this power of preaching is seen in the great evangelistic work of the 19th Century Southern Presbyterian preacher, Daniel Baker.
