A Receptive Heart

The disciples were frightened when they saw what they thought was a ghost approaching them as they struggled against the wind on the Sea of Galilee. It turned out not to be a ghost, but Jesus, walking on the water! When he entered their boat and the winds immediately ceased, they were "utterly astounded." But Mark explains that they wouldn't have been afraid or astonished if they'd grasped the significance of what happened just before they set sail - Jesus miraculous feeding of the 5000. Their problem is the same as all who fail to grasp the reality of who Jesus is - "their hearts were hardened."
