2 Thessalonians 2 - Part 16 - Giving Thanks for the Brethren

his is a study of Paul's 2nd epistle to the Thessalonians, which was written shortly after his first epistle to them. There was false doctrine that was circulating in the church at Thessalonica, that led Paul to write so quickly after his first letter to them. Because of the intense persecution they found themselves under they had come to accept that the day of the Lord had come. Since this was way off the mark, Paul gave them the truth as to why that was not the case. Here we look at the slaying of the man of sin, whom the Lord will slay by the breath of His mouth at the appearance of His coming. His coming is by and in the activity of Satan and his power and he will do many powerful miracles to lead men into his lies. With this deceiving of the whole world, Satan will bring the armies of the world to do battle with our Lord and His army. The unbelievers of this world will have been deceived to the point that they will follow Satan and the man of sin, all the way to the battlefield. They will accept the anti-Christ as their God and worship him as such. Verse 13 begins with the word "but" to show the great difference between the lost who are in open rebellion against their creator and those who are brethren, beloved and chosen from the beginning for salvation. God's grace in Jesus Christ is unspeakably wonderful!
