Being Greatest In The Kingdom By Keeping The Law

The law of God measures all things, especially real righteousness. Jesus is correcting the wrong teaching that His disciples - and the entire generation at that time - had received from the Pharisees. The Pharisees had taught that righteousness was external, and that the blessed man was one who kept their external rules. Jesus shows that true righteousness is based on keeping the law, both externally and internally. For us, it means that we must resist the ideas that many churches have foisted upon us; and even the ones we create for ourselves; and instead measure our progress in holiness based on our love for God's law.
