God Living in Me

There is only one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. C.S. Lewis said that most people have a problem with this because God made us (people) as one person, one being. God, however, has 3 Persons, 1 Being. Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us. Jesus says He is going to be in His disciples. The Creator of the Universe will not just be with us, but be in us (those who trust and believe in Jesus). We are not just able to talk with God but He lives His life through us. Jesus said in verse 1 and 27 not to let our hearts be troubled and not to be afraid. We are not to let fear govern our conduct or speech. Let us not say, "I am afraid", but instead "I feel fear". Being afraid is not the same as feeling fear. We must not give into fear. There is hierarchy within the Godhead. Verse 28 explains this, the Father is greater than I, Jesus explains. The Son is eternally submitted to the Father, He is always doing the Father's will (verse 31). We must realize that Jesus is in charge and we must follow Him. Because we love Him, we are seeking to do what He commands. Love is what motivates us to act in true obedience. If God is pleased with us at the end of our lives, that is all the matters. If God is not pleased, it does not matter how many people were pleased. Heaven is not Heaven because of the stuff in it, Heaven is Heaven because of being in the presence of God. Because we love God, we do what He says. If we would like to understand the Author of the Bible, we can meet and learn from Him, He is God.
