Delight in God: You Will Despise Sin

Delight in God, and you will despise sin.
Had Esau treasured those promises to Abraham in his heart; had he meditated on them, enjoyed them, claimed them, and continued to think about them, he never would have given in to Jacob's offer. But he had drifted from those things and turned his focus to just enjoying the things of this life. And so it was no surprise that he gave in to an insignificant, temporary urge for food and made a disastrous choice to despise those promises.
In the same way, if we treasure the word of God in our hearts, learning about Christ and enjoying the gospel, reading and meditating on those great truths day after day, we will grow to despise sin.
