Presuppositions for Prayer

In asking why the address to God is framed, "Our Father, which art in heaven" the Catechism teaches:

1. That detailed attention to the exact words of Scripture is beneficial;
2. That God could have been addressed in some other way, and so this is especially meaningful;
3. That the address to God isn't a matter of protocol merely, but of the attitude of the heart.
