God gives to Ruth, a Moabite woman, a very important place in His church
61 ( 47 | 14 )
God gives to Ruth, a Moabite woman, a very important place in His church.
- Ruth is accepted into the church
- through Ruth God gives Naomi a future
- through Ruth God gives salvation to everyone who believes
Questions to think about during the sermon:
Point 1:
- Why does the kinsman-redeemer refuse to marry Ruth? What is his reason?
- How does Boaz NOT react to the reasoning of the kinsman-redeemer? Why not?
- Boaz says that he is ‘acquiring’ Ruth. That implies that he bought her … with dollars and cents. What
does this say to us … about ourselves … and about each other?
Point 2: - What is unusual about the birth notice of Obed? Who gets the most attention? Why?
- What can Obed give to Naomi that Boaz could never give to her?
- Did Naomi have anything to be happy for before Obed was born? What does this teach us about the way
that we should look at life?
Point 3: - That a Moabite woman like Ruth should be an ancestor of Jesus Christ should not surprise us: why not?
- Who is the most important person in the book of Ruth? Why?
