Questions to think about during the sermon:
Point 1:

1. Why does the kinsman-redeemer refuse to marry Ruth? What is his reason?
2. How does Boaz NOT react to the reasoning of the kinsman-redeemer? Why not?
3. Boaz says that he is ‘acquiring’ Ruth. That implies that he bought her … with dollars and cents. What
   does this say to us … about ourselves … and about each other?

4. What is unusual about the birth notice of Obed? Who gets the most attention? Why?
5. What can Obed give to Naomi that Boaz could never give to her?
6. Did Naomi have anything to be happy for before Obed was born? What does this teach us about the way
   that we should look at life?

7. That a Moabite woman like Ruth should be an ancestor of Jesus Christ should not surprise us: why not?
