Learning Prophecy and Our Comfort in Dying

145

Daniel wanted to know how the terrible scattering of the church would turn out. What would become of the kingdom of God on earth? The Lord will not answer Daniel, telling him to leave the matter alone and that he must be content to believe what was revealed to him without seeing its connection to other things. The Lord's denial instructs the Christian that he must learn biblical prophecy in steps, believing the thing at hand and wating until more is made plain from Scripture. After this the Lord goes on to tell Daniel of suffereings that are near at hand for the church under Antiochus Epiphanes and that the ones who endure suffering until the end will be happy. After this benediction, Daniel is told to go on his way until his death, seen as his body's resting in the grave, until he comes into the glorious inheritance reserved for the children of God at the last day--resurrection and glorification together with Christ.
