Resisting Temptation

This story of Joseph is designed to contrast and compare Joseph with Judah. Judah faced sexual temptation failed. Joseph faced repeated sexual temptation and succeeded. The reason he was successful was that he had an understanding and experience of the presence of God. To use the Old Testament idea Joseph had a fear of the Lord that kept him from the strange woman. His love and connection with God caused Joseph to see the cost of falling to temptation.
