Why You Don't Kill Gibeonites. And why David bought Golgotha and Gethsemane

In this church the pastor is known for doing lectures that build on the previous lectures. If you're new here, you've just stepped into the advanced class, but that's okay. Audit this one and you might find that you're ready for it.

After last week's lecture, he found that we wanted more information on what's going on with Saul slaughtering the Gibeonites, so he's taking that part of it and helping us understand it a little better. And then we're going to get more on Simeon and Levi killing the forefathers of the Gibeonites. You'll find that they tie in together, and you need to look at both. And then after that, we'll go ahead and teach you how those two events go together with David doing a census without the atonement money, which will lead him to the point where he buy's the threshing floor. For those who didn't know, that threshing floor includes both the garden of Gethsemane and the garden of Golgotha. So, there you go. At least this time I hope I've given you a better description of what this sermon will entail.

Here's the references we'll want to work with in this study:
Genesis 34, 35, 32 and 28
2 Samuel 21, 24
1 Chronicles 21

Our pastor tells us that, that is half of the study. There... doesn't that make things sound easier? Okay, but at least you've got a preacher who's willing to lay it out for you in a way that will actually make sense, and give you some good direction so you can study on your own. He'll help you become the scholar so that you'll really learn, which is much better than having it spoon fed to you. How's that?

One more thing and you're on your own. Get out a notepad and open your TextBook, then press play.
