The Comfort of God

97

In this, the apostle Paul's most personal letter, he opens by drawing attention to the comfort God provides. God's comfort provides both peace and the necessary means for believers to endure the difficulties that are still a part of the world we live in. Believers are not spared difficulties but are given the means to respond in and handle them differently than the unbeliever who does not have God's grace and peace. For these provisions God is due praise and thanksgiving and He provides with abundance in His perfect timing. With His peace believers need not fear any circumstance, person, or problem but rather fear the Lord who is able and has promised comfort in the most needful and beneficial way.
