The Call of Abram

The call of Abram by Jehovah is absolutely extraordinary, for there was nothing in Abram to commend him to God. He was an (apparently) idolatrous man who worshiped the moon as his fathers had before him. He was an old man past his prime who had a barren wife past the age of child bearing, not exactly a couple we would think of for starting a breeding program for a nation! Yet God chose this couple, so that it would be plain and evident that God alone had done it, so that to Him would all the glory belong!
