Introduction to The Second Epistle of Peter (2 Peter)

We are beginning a new study tonight, as we work through Peter's Second General Epistle (2 Peter). Peter is older, and about to be martyred for the faith. His heart is to make sure that the believers are solid and grounded in their faith. As such, he focuses on the issue of the Scriptures as our final authority, and warns against both false teachers in the church and skeptics outside the church who will tend to pull us away from Scripture. As he does so, Peter shows us an interesting understanding of "last things" —in the days of Noah, in his own day, and for the entirety of the church age.
