Series Readings from J. C. Ryle
512
Following on from the initial Preface to Expository Thoughts on the Gospels, in which he explained his 'character and design of the work', J.C. Ryle helpfully explains his thoughts on the first 17 verses of Matthews Gospel. He entitles this first exposition 'The Genealogy of Jesus Christ.' He deals briefly with his three sub-heads, all reflecting on the list of names, as follows:
1: God always keeps His word
2: The sinfulness and corruption of human nature
3: How great is the mercy and compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ
