I referenced the text in Jude which says, Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, v. 24

I said in the sermon that the word for 'exceeding' was a certain Greek word pronounced 'huperekballo'...

I had not intended on using the text and I gave the Greek from memory (assuming it was the same word used in Eph ) for 'exceedingly' great power...(which is 'huperekballo).

The word used in Jude is, in fact, a different Greek word. The word Jude uses, agalliasis, means roughly the same thing. exultation, extreme joy, gladness.

However, I made a mistake publicly and wanted to ask your forgiveness of this. This was careless of me. Preachers are to preach in such a way that they will not be 'despised' (Titus 2:15). Part of that is accuracy of presentation. I am determined to always speak the truth, especially when it comes to the words of the text.

In Christ,
Jim
