Honesty and Accountability with God's Finances
- The greatest generosity is often displayed by those who have the least to give.
- The Christian gives freely and with joy.
- We give ourselves to God, before we give of our substance.
- The Grace of Christian giving is comparable to other Christian graces.
- We must not only be willing to give – we must actually give. v. 6, 10-12
- Christ is the greatest example of giving. v. 9
- There is a special obligation resting on the members of Christ to relieve
the needs of their fellow-believers. Galatians 6:10 - We do not give so that others can simply be irresponsible. 2 Thess. 3:6-12
2 Corinthians 8:16-9:5
Churches need to make sure that honest, spiritual men handle the finances.
It is not enough to be honest before the Lord, we must also be perceived as
honest among men. 20-21People have the right to expect their offering will be used properly.
Those in authority are accountable for how they use the money given by
the people of God.Giving is a tangible proof of our love. v. 24
