THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Intro: With Lord's Day 20 the HC makes another transition, as it follows the Apostles' Creed: God the Holy Spirit.
In John 14-16 Jesus comforts his disciples and the Church by declaring to them that he will send the Comforter.

I. HIS IDENTITY
A. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity.
B. He is the Spirit of Christ.
C. In John 14:16,17 the Spirit is given two other names:
II. HIS SAVING WORK
A. The Holy Spirit powerfully and sovereignly makes us partakers of the rich blessings of Chrsit.
B. How does the Spirit work?
C. How do we obtain all the blessings of salvation merited for us by Jesus Christ?
III. HIS PERSISTENT WORK
A. John 14:16 makes clear that Christ sent the Spirit to abide with us forever!
B. How we need this comfort in our daily walk.
C. Pray for the Spirit of Christ!
