SAMARIA

(John 4.1-29)

I. From the simple to the sublime

A. Our Lord is familiar with the ordinary things of life (verses 5-9).

B. Our Lord is expert in the most profound things in life. (verses 10-15)(Romans 14.17).

II. From the subject of salvation to the subject of sin

Preachers who only deal with the blessings of redemption do not get to the root of the sinner's need.

A. Social standards and Christ's standards are not always the same (verse 16).

B. Sinful social standards offer no refuge from the judge of all the earth that shall do right. (verse 17-18) What the Bible defines as sin is sin.

III. From the sensual to the spiritual, salvation & Saviour

A. From the sensual to the spiritual (verses 19-21).

B. From the sensual to salvation. (verse 22)(Romans 3.9-10). (verses 23-24).

C. From the sensual to the Saviour. (verse 25-26). The cross must be the starting point of our journey of true life.
