Living As A Light In the Darkness

Faith in Christ not only cleanses spiritually from sin but makes the believer new on the inside so that behavior on the outside will likewise be changed. The new character that will be developed will be in conformity to Christ's character. While having been made new with the power of sin broken there still remains residual of sin with sinful desires that must be denied and controlled. The goal for the believer is to live pleasing to God instead of pleasing and gratifying self. In so doing the believer's life and lifestyle then becomes a testimony of God's grace that can be observed by unbelievers yet living under the influence of sin and the darkness apart from God's light. This testimony can be used by God to prepare hearts for the Gospel they must hear to be saved. A contradictory testimony will discredit the Gospel message, nullify its power and dim the light that those in the darkness so desperately need to see to be drawn to God.
