The Narrow Way to the Abundant Life

The words of our Lord and Savior are often misunderstood by God's people. Perhaps no better example exists than the Lord's teaching about the strait gate and the narrow way. Many of those who teach that salvation is by sovereign, unmerited grace, wrongly misapply the Lord's statements to eternal salvation. Since the Lord is talking about matters that require one to "strive" (Luke 13:24) it should be clear that the Lord is NOT talking about how a sinner obtains eternal life - for if this were the case, salvation would not be by grace but by works. Instead, our Lord is teaching His people the importance of abiding in him as all our hope and stay and entering into the more abundant life that is possible for God's people during their pilgrimage as strangers here in this life. Legalism, Moralism, Money and Idols are just a few of the challenges which make passage through the narrow way difficult, but we have the assurance that this way is both attainable and worth it - being better than all the riches this world has to offer. Let us strive to enter!
