Joshua Warns Israel to Cleave to the LORD

What does it mean when Joshua tells Israel that the LORD had divided the nations of the Gentiles by lot to them? It means that Israel had an ongoing conflict ahead for them. Because of this each generation was to be taught to war against their enemy. There is a sense in which this parallels the Christian experience. The child of God must be taught that he has an enemy to combat, otherwise how can he hope to gain the advantage over him?
