Passionate Housewives, Desperate for God
Is there any alternative to the emotionally-androgynous power woman vision for womanhood in the 21st century? Is a woman's worth to be measured only by the degree of her ambition, the shape of her body, and her money-making skills? Thank God there is an alternative to the humanist vision of materialist power women and desperate housewives, passionate for themselves. A couple of housewives have teamed up to write a protest book, called "Passionate Housewives, Desperate for God."
This book takes on the Stepford Wives Caricature, that somehow a woman who doesn’t work as a mindless slave for a corporation, but functions as a productive member of a family economy - investing herself in a generational vision, must by default become a mindless automaton.
Author Jennie Chancey dispels these myths in 20 minutes on this segment of Generations.
