The Helmet of Salvation

2,268

Our salvation was hard fought--but not by us. R.C. Sproul effectively explains with a rather vivid illustration: 'God just doesn't throw a life preserver to a drowning person. He goes to the bottom of the sea, and pulls a corpse from the bottom of the sea, takes him up on the bank, breathes into him the breath of life and makes him alive. That's what the Bible says happens in your salvation.' And that which He went to great pains and lengths to gain will never be lost again.

In Romans 8:32, Paul tells us that 'He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?' Simply stated, If God did the long thought out, eternally planned, painfully agonizing work of securing your salvation, would He not do then what would seem easier by comparison, namely, keep us? Of course He would. Be comforted in this today as we continue our look into the armor of our salvation.
