The Righteous and the Wicked in a Fallen World (Part II)

In Isaiah 57:14–21, we are promised that the righteous
ones who die in peace (57:1–2, 13d–e) will receive 3
blessings, but the unrighteous will receive no peace.
I. The righteous who die in peace receive the blessing
of God himself.
A. Who prepared their way to peace (v. 14).
B. Who is transcendent (v. 15a–c).
C. Who is imminent (v. 15d).
II. The righteous who die in peace receive the blessing
of life (v. 15e–f).
III. The righteous who die in peace receive the blessing
of mercy.
A. Though the righteous sin, God relents when
they repent (vs. 16–17).
B. Though the righteous sin, God will heal
them when they repent (vs. 18–19).
IV. Warning: There is no peace for the wicked
(vs. 20–21).
