[01/08/2023 PM] - "God: Just & Merciful" - Exodus 34:1-9

The evening will bring us to one of the most glorious passages in the Old Testament and some help from the Canons of Dort 2.1, 2. Exodus 34.4-7 is a stunning Word from God about Himself and a great Word to us His nature and attributes. As the Canons put it God is both supremely merciful and supremely just. These lead us to see Jesus Christ as the center of our hope.

Theme: God's proclamation of mercy is our only rescue in the face of His justice

1. The two new tablets prove the strict justice of God

2. The descent and passing-by-proclamation of the Lord prove His mercy

3. But guilt will need to be punished and all the elect will accrue guilt
