True Ministers of Christ

23

In this passage Paul is defending himself from those who were accusing him of vasillating as to whether to visit the Corinthians again or not. Paul explains that the reason he did not visit them at the planned time is because they were not yet ready to receive him; apparently he felt that they had not repented of those matters that he had previously put before them orally and by letter. It was his concern for them, not a change of mind on his part, that motivated his actions. Paul's declaration of the fact that all the OT promises regarding the Messiah were positively fulfilled in Christ was the foundation out of which he and his co-workers operated: as clear and true is the Gospel, so was their preaching of its message, and so was the consistency of their conduct with the Corinthians.
