Fallow Ground and Fruit Bearing
Series Sermons from the Road
81
God's people often stand in need of correction. Jeremiah admonished Judah to "break up your fallow ground. In so doing he was addressing the spirit of malaise that often afflicts God's people, preventing them from bearing the fruit they might otherwise have produced in their lives. This principle is applicable to the Lord's parable of the sower. As Christian disciples we are to examine ourselves and put away the cares of the world and other distractions that might prevent the word of God from finding "good soil" in our hearts wherein we may bring forth good fruit.
