A Pathway To Joy
Series Real Christianity
“I just can’t forgive myself.” This painful lament among those struggling with past failures is an unnecessary bondage. Nowhere in Scripture are we encouraged to forgive ourselves. Sin is an offense against God, and it is God alone who has authority to forgive us. And He is eager to do so when we confess sin. Confession – agreeing with God when we’ve offended His holiness and turning from our sin – is an ongoing privilege for Christians, our gateway to a clean conscience and confidence in our walk with God. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 (NKJV) We are powerless to forgive ourselves. So much the better to seek and receive restoration from our loving Father through the powerful work of Jesus!
