Satan Loses Access to Heaven

Revelation, chapters twelve-fourteen, detail events that take place in the middle of the seven year Tribulation. These details help us understand the events that are to follow during the final half of that period.

This background information explains why Satan's opposition against Israel is so fierce during the last half of the Tribulation. The impetus begins with the war in heaven between the fallen and unfallen angels. Michael is the archangel having responsibility for the nation of Israel. A glimpse is given of this coming battle between Satan and his forces opposing Michael and the host of unfallen angels. This battle that takes place in heaven is over who will rule the earth. Satan's attempt is to usurp the position and authority of Christ who is soon to return, set up His kingdom, and takes over the earth.

As a result of losing his last stand in heaven, Satan will be thrown down to earth along with his demonic followers and lose access to heaven. With that defeat Satan's full fury is poured out on the earth, and most directly on the Jews. Even unbelievers will experience pain and turmoil as he uses them as pawns in his effort to destroy God's people so as to thwart God's plan for His kingdom on the earth.
