Outside the Camp

Jesus suffered 'outside the camp', a phrase full of OT meaning in relation to the nature and mode of his sacrifice. However, it also means that the City and the powers of this age do not recognise either him or his people. This does not mean that they do not have a home, but that their home is never of this world. The fact that our citizenship is in heaven means that the Father's family shares in the law of heaven (in its life and worship) rather than in those things which mark the life of the City.
