The Rich Young Ruler

Jesus does things a bit differently than most of us. If a rich man came up to your pastor asking to be a member of the congregation, would your pastor confront him with eternal truths or offer him a position on the church board? Or, if after offering a person in the congregation eternal truths and that person walks away, would your pastor let him go or call him back saying, 'Can't we talk about this over a cup of coffee?' Learning discipleship lessons from the episode of the rich young ruler will help us to maintain a perspective that man's devices are impossible... and at the Cross of Christ and by His Spirit we make ourselves available to God's possibilities.
