Identifying Our Real Enemy

One of the keys in being successful in defending ourselves from terrorist attacks is to be able to positively identify the origin of the threat. Who is our real enemy! And when it comes to spiritual warfare, it is paramount for us as followers of Christ to be able to identify our real enemy. It is NOT the man or woman who gives us a hard time for our faith in Christ. It is NOT a corrupt government or law enforcement system that might persecute us as believers. In Paul's words, 'We wrestle not against flesh and blood". But our real enemy is Satan himself-- the devil! He is our adversary, the one who relentlessly brings charges against us in God's court room! He is the devil, the malicious enemy who slanders and attacks. He is a liar and the purveyor of fake news and false teaching. He is a murderer-- the one who instills within the heart of fallen man a desire to take another man's life. Our real enemy is like a 'roaring lion seeking whom he may devour." He is vicious and relentless in the way that he attacks us. He is out to completely ruin or destroy us! He wants BLOOD! But he is also a defeated foe! What he thought was his greatest triumph of his career--namely the death of God's Son-- turns out to be his greatest failure! For on the cross and subsequent empty tomb, Jesus Christ won the war! Our enemy is living on borrow time! His doom is sealed! And because Jesus Christ has overcome, we too can be overcomes, not casualties or victims in this spiritual conflict! But we need to know who our real enemy is-- and then develop a strategy to stand against him.
