Indicator 2

God's Messenger... an evil messenger to confront our pride and wayward thinking and backslidden living.

God's Sounding the Alarms...

A distressing and troubling spirit FROM the Lord is an INDICATOR of a wayward heart.

Saul is an example of those (a man) who operates in this life, as a king... but without a King guiding (him) them. David on the other hand is a king (a man) who functioned in this life looking to and leaning on a King that led Him, as he led God's people. A picture of those who faithfully and consistently abide in Jesus. Saul is an example of us when we do not abide but backslide and function independent of God's lead.

Much of what I will share in this message is an introduction to what I teach when I lead a Saul Syndrome Conference. The first indicator is the distressing spirit that God gives in His chastening love for us when we've taken our eyes off of Him and living for ourselves. Hebrews (chapter 12) refers to it as a weary and downcast spirit.

The second indicator is based on A PRINCIPLE found in Proverbs:

"An evil man seeks only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger will be sent against him. Whoever rewards evil for good, evil will not depart from his house." (Proverbs 17:11,13)

We see THE PRINCIPLE APPLIED in Saul's life with Goliath. The pride and rebellion of his heart is met with a challenge that has him dismayed, dreadfully afraid and trembling in his boots. Where as the righteous man — David — is bold as a lion before the same challenge.

I deal with 16 indicators in the study, that I've gleaned from the progressive spiral in Saul's life. It's been a tool to help churches prepare and position themselves for revival.
