Our God Can Do!

34

One of the things I've noticed as I approach 60 is that I'm not able to keep the pace I did when I was in my 20's, 30's, or 40's. I find that I do not have the energy that I once had and that it takes longer for me to recuperate after a period of ministry. I've given up trying to be omnipotent. Something I can't do. But God can!! Our God's power is limitless! He can do anything that is an object of His power. Anything He wills to do God can do. And the really good news is that God desires to share His power with us! In this sermon we explore the limitless power of God. We look at an incident in the life of Jeremiah where God asks him to do something which humanly speaking seems absurd. Jeremiah obeys, but then doubts whether God is able to do what He said He would. But is anything too hard for the LORD? We also look at an incident in the life of Isaiah where he's called upon to encourage people who have gone through some tough times. He reveals that the secret to experiencing God's power in our weakness is to WAIT upon the LORD. Not passive waiting, but active hope in God. And then lastly we consider Paul's grappling with his thorn in the flesh and how that God grants us grace to help us in our times of weakness and need. When we think we can't, God can do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think according to the power that is at work in us. OUR GOD CAN DO!
