The Supremacy of the Word of God
Series Studies in the life of Christ
In these scriptures, Christ sets forth the supremacy of the Word of God over the teachings of men, regardless of their learning or their devoutness.
The sole basis for our doctrine and practices as Christians, must be the Word of God and no individual, no council or denomination has any authority to change the Word of God.
Time can not change its authority or teachings or good intentions of men.
There is no reason for all the various denominations today except that man has taken to himself the authority to change the Word of God. Our Lord says,
"In vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." Matt.15:9
"The Word of our God shall stand forever." Isa.40:8
"All worshipping, honouring, or service invented by the brain of man in the religion of God, without His own express commandment, is idolatry."
John Knox
