Divorce and Remarriage

A sermon on divorce and remarriage that seeks to be true to the biblical teaching and holding forth the grace we find from both Paul and Jesus as they deal with those who have been marked by divorce.

The Bible has no positive teaching on divorce. There are positive words regarding marriage, singleness and even positive instruction offered to widows and widowers, but on divorce the teaching is negative, there is never a time when God is pleased with the dissolution of marriage.

But the scriptures are realistic and, while speaking firmly to those who are single, married, separated and divorced, they also reveal a merciful tenderness towards those who come to Christ having already tasted the bitterness of divorce.
