Westminster Shorter Catechism Q. 87 Repentance to Life

Repentance unto life is a gift from God & gospel grace. It begins at conversion, but is also an effect of sanctification throughout our lives. It is not just regret or sorrow over consequences of sin. Repentance to life begins with grief & hatred over the offense to God. It involves turning away from sin & turning to God, striving for new obedience or fruit of repentance. Repentance to live results in joy.
