Introduction

• In the Midst of Trials, Do you find Yourself Questioning Where you Fit in with Other Christians?
• We need not struggle with our Identity When We encounter Various Trials and are Coming to Him in Our Time of Need

I. We Must Come to Christ Remembering Who We are in Relation to Christ (vs. 5, 9-10)

• “Living Stones,” “A Holy Priesthood” (vs. 5; Ephesians 2:5-6, 14-16; John 11:25-26; Ephesians 2:22; Psalm 141:2; Hosea 14:2; Romans 12:1; Philippians 2:17; 4:18; Hebrews 13:15-16; Isaiah 64:6; Hebrews 13:10)
• “A Chosen Generation” – A Chosen Race (Lit.) (v. 10a; Deuteronomy 7:7-8; Jeremiah 31:3; Romans 8:29)
• “A Royal Priesthood” – “Kings and Priest” (v. 9b; Revelation 1:6; 5:10; 20:6; Heidelberg Catechism #32)
• “A Holy Nation” (v. 9c; Matthew 22:37-39)
• “His Own Special People” – A People Acquired (Lit.) (vs. 10d; I Peter 1:18-19; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 1:7, 14) – Called “Out of Darkness into His Marvelous Light” (9e; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; Ephesians 2:1-10; 5:8-14)

Conclusion/Application

• “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16) – And give Him all glory, honor and power, forever!
